January 11, 2002Friday FiveFRIDAY FIVE FEVER!1. What was your first job? Busboy and then waiter at El Chico's restaurant in Heritage Park Mall, Midwest City, Oklahoma. I didn't enjoy being a busboy, but waiting tables was great fun. Good money, too, for a 17/18 year-old kid who lived at home, and a great way to meet people. 2. How old were you when you had your first kiss? When I was 25 and met my wife. Don't believe me? Actually, I don't remember; either 14 or 15, either in California or Washington. 3. What was your first car? What happened to it? Ha! A 1972 Chrysler New Yorker, bought in 1984 for $800, that weighed approximately eight metric tons and had a huge engine. It died, undignified and dirty, about four months later, at which point a '79 Ford Fairmont Futura became my ride. 4. What was your first concert? The B-52s in 1982. Then Van Halen in 1984. None since. I have an almost perverse aversion to the very concept of attending pop-music concerts. That's what CDs, radio, etc, are for -- to listen to music. 5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? Next question... Posted at January 11, 2002 08:01 PM COMMENTS!
Hmmm Dave. Re: Concerts. It's not just about the music, it's about THE SHOW!!! Being part of an experience!! Shoot, I could listen to Rush all day long, but being there for the unexpected (by me) "flash pots" going off, the extended versions of the songs, and let's not forget the passing of the beach balls all over the audience, and the boys in the band pumping us all up. Nothing compares to a live show in my book. MAYBE -- but only for Sinatra. OK, Dino and Sammy, too. Posted by: davidmsc at January 14, 2002 09:02 AMPost a comment
