The "In Memoriam: NYC 9/11" special on HBO was hard to watch, but necessary. Already, you can sense that the memory, the reality of what happened on that day is slowly receding in the minds of some people, and they are too ready to let it slip into history, simply another video montage devoid of meaning, without knowing why it was important, why we must remember, and how our response since then has underlined the greatness of our nation.
We shall overcome. By "we" I mean Americans, and others around the world who celebrate & respect freedom, democracy, and capitalism, for those are the very things that have made America great. And by "overcome" I do not necessarily mean defeating those who oppose us, but rather that American principles & ideals will eventually triumph world-wide, not through conquest & invasion, but rather through the desire for freedom that can not be stifled or snuffed out.
UPDATE: Go say hi to Jay from NYC. I stumbled across his site today, and it is quite impressive. Among his targets: astrology. He even goes on to say that astrology is, to some degree, on a par with the Holocaust. And he's right. Additionally, he seems to echo some of my sentiment from above. On a lighter note, he appears to be quite the fan of "The Critic," which only makes him all the more linkable.
