Thanks Giving
So another
Independence Day has come & gone. Truly my favorite "holiday," for without it, we may not have any others. On
Independence Day, my strongest emotion is gratitude towards (a) our Founding Fathers, and (b) our military & political leaders. The Fathers, of course, for their wisdom, courage, and foresight, and our military & political heroes for their determination to secure the dream, and defend it at all costs. I am, quite simply, eternally grateful for those who have gone before. Sure, come late November, I'll stuff my face with turkey, gravy, and yams, but the day that I am
most thankful for, and that evokes the strongest sense of
gratitude, is America's birthday--
Independence Day. To me, this day is like the combination of Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, all rolled up into one.
By the way, as we were grilling the steaks & burgers this evening, we decided that the heavenly aroma of beef grilling on the BBQ should henceforth be known as "the smell of freedom."
