TV: Gives So Much, Asks For So Little

These lousy SOBs can have my remote control when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. Update: what she said.

Sadly, they have infiltrated the schools...my daughter's 5th grade class can earn extra credit if they go all week without watching TV. I think it's time I visited the principal...should be interesting to see what sort of excuses or propaganda the school comes up with to justify telling my child that watching TV is "bad" or somehow needs to be curbed.

Yeah......right. We have times when the TV's off. But, that's OUR choice. Not the school's. Not the grandparents'. Not the neighbors'. OUR choice.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one. I watched a ton of TV as a kid and I'm doing fine.

I watch a ton of TV now and I'm doing fine. And I'm able to impress people with my useless trivia as a result of watching so much TV.

While I agree with you that it is not the schools place to tell you as a parent to curd your daughter's TV watching habits, I think it is important to inspire other habits in children other than watching TV. I think that is the intention of the school, even though it was obviously poorly informed to the parents.

Go ahead and let you kids watch TV for hours on end. I'm sure that they'll fit in at Burger King at the fry stand just swell.

Don't send your children to government indoctrination camps (aka "public schools"). Homeschool or find a private school that shares your values and send them there. Problem solved.

. . . . and yet another reason why we homeschool. To watch TV or not to watch TV, our choice!

Not too many atheist private schools, unfortunately...
