Money Money Money

This SF Gate article (and others like it) are leading some to conclude that one trillion dollars has been stolen. Well, as Sergeant Hulka said to "Psycho" Francis in the movie "Stripes": LIGHTEN UP, FRANCIS! There is no missing $1 trillion hidden under someone's mattress. The article stated that the Pentagon "...couldn't account for more than a trillion dollars in financial transactions." That's a lot different from $1T being stolen or going missing. And mind you, this is very much a cumulative thing -- contrary to what I've seen spouted on some other sites, President Bush and other DoD leaders are not "guilty" of taking the money, or even "losing" it. The vast majority of it has happened over decades, not just since President Bush was elected. The fault lies primarily with Pentagon accounting & logistics systems that don't (or didn't) talk to each other, the incredibly mobile nature of the military, and the normal bureaucratic balls of string that are inevitable when you're dealing with numbers, equipment, supplies, and people in such large quantities.
