When David Met Pam!

Today, on the occasion of my 13th wedding anniversary to The Beautiful Wife, I offer up what has become something of a tradition here at BLTB: the story of "When David Met Pam". Some of you will remember this story from previous postings and have since either grown jaded or simply weary of hearing the tale...but for all of you relatively new friends, grab a tissue...

Here is the stroy as originally told:

"On a personal note...just to show you that sometimes, just sometimes, when you do something that in hindsight might be considered crazy, it actually turns out to be the smartest thing you ever did. When I first saw her in 1990, she worked at a large grocery store. I would often use any excuse to go through her line, just to see her beautiful face & smile. "Twin Peaks" had entranced me, so I would frequently pick up a cherry pie & some coffee, always making sure that I picked her line. Once, just trying to work up the courage to say something beyond "Hi!" to her, I went through her line with only a roll of Scotch-tape (that I didn't need). Finally, on October 6th, after about two months of trying to say something intelligible, I finally screwed up the courage to ask her out. We agreed to go to the symphony & have dinner on the Riverwalk on October 18th. Nervous as could be, I awaited the fateful day. Come October 18th, I picked her up (she looked fabulous, of course), we enjoyed the symphony, then ate dinner at a wonderful restaurant (Michelino's) on the Riverwalk, and then drank coffee at a local diner (Earl Abel's) until 5:00 am. Two weeks later, I proposed at Dunkin' Donuts, using a twisted paper-napkin as a temporary ring. Two weeks after that, on November 17th, we got married. Hooray!"
