December 08, 2003A Matter of TasteFear Factor. There is truly no show more disgusting. The Beautiful Wife and Sassy (my 12 y/o) are hooked on it, so of course I have to pretend to pay attention. OK, I'll admit it: sometimes the "edibles" simply draw me in out of morbid curiosity - would someone actually eat stink beetles, or a pig rectum? So tonight, on the Christmas episode, a contestant had to eat five dragonflies - living dragonflies. Another person had to consume a worm-filled sausage. Live worms, wriggling and writhing under the sausage skin. The Beautiful Wife shrieks, gags, turns her head, peeks, gapes in awe, covers her eyes, and yells, "F*** no!"And yet she eats broccoli. Oh COME ON, broccoli is GOOD! It's loaded with vitamin C, tastes great with a little butter or margarine on it. Some brave souls even eat it with cheese sauce...I don't think I need to tell you what the results of *that* are, lol. Posted by: Jane at December 8, 2003 09:07 PMMmmmm broccoli! I love it. Posted by: Asherah at December 9, 2003 10:52 AMMy favorite show! Beautiful Wife and Sassy certainly know their entertainment. The worms in the sausage casing almost had me gagging. Posted by: Patty at December 9, 2003 11:30 PMBut how is eating gross food scary rather than nasty? I never got that. Check that. Hard-boiled eggs ARE inherently frightening. *whimper* Everything else they put on the show is just disgusting. Posted by: Dave at December 10, 2003 11:29 AMMmm... broccoli... I could eat dragonflies. Even beetles. But cow, fish, and sheep's eyes? Fuhget about it! And worms, I won't even touch. Posted by: Renee at January 28, 2004 10:41 AMPost a comment
