Top Five New Bloggers of 2003
My choices for the Top Five New (or New To Me!) Bloggers of 2003! Here is my pick for the best of the new blogs; some were brand-new in 2003, others have been around a bit longer, but I didn't pick up on them until 2003. The selections are based on the quality of their writing, their ability to find and relate interesting things, their sense of humor, their overall good-naturedness (usually!), their consistency, and other assorted factors. The list:
Kim: His ability to shock and stun - humorously - remains unsurpassed by any other blogger. A very tame sample: "You know, in all that past shoulder-shoving over Ginger versus Mary Ann nobody ever brought up the obvious trump card: Mrs. Howell." Trust me - there's more potent stuff over at his place. Heh.
Jane: You knew she would be here, didn't you? Jane exploded onto the blogging scene several months ago, and our ears are *still* burning. This woman is a one-man arsenal of expletives, common-sense, and wicked humor. She does have a softer side, though. Oh, and she's got a great sense of funk, to boot.

Penda and I didn't get off to a great start, but since then, she has rocketed to the top of my "Coolest People That I've Never Met" list. First, of course, she gets bonus points for beauty, but her caustic wit, macabre style, and deep-down goodness make her truly Grade-A reading material. And another great thing about Penda's site is the "Diner" theme...make it moo, "regulars," customer will take a chance, etc. Believe me - this is one groovy chick. As she would tell you herself, kneel down before Penda.
Venomous Kate: What can you say about Kate? Sure, she's full of venom...but she's also a lawyer, a beach-bum, military wife, and funny as hell. This is a chick that you want on YOUR side when the shooting starts.
Kensho: Kensho Godchaser, aka Jay Allen. He's been around for a while, but somehow eluded my browser until very recently. He is the first person to ever label me a "Kelleyite Objectivist."
One more thing: what good is an award of this caliber without a trophy? Here is a handy button that the five Best New Bloggers can use on their own site to demonstrate their Bloggy Goodness, available in Male or Female style!
