Nickname

"New Wave Dave" was my nickname in grades 11/12. Lately, however, I've been referring to myself as "L.L. Cool Dave." Heh.

Do you have any nicknames, from long ago or present-day?

Hey Dave, I mean L.L. Cool Dave. I was called "Bearded One" for a long time. I was blessed to have a full beard in high school that allowed me to easily purchase certain beverages. Then I met a certain older woman that could do this legally. It was true love, and now she's my wife.

There was a time in elementary school my friends called me Ffej Noswal. Not terribly clever, I'm afraid. Although I should have jumped at the opportunity to introduce myself to girls as a Norwegian exchange student.

When I was working in child care back in college, we were encouraged to come up with a nickname for the kids to refer to us by. This was particularly important at the school I was first assigned to, as three other Jeff's were on staff (talk about a weird fluke). Anyway, I couldn't think of anything, so this annoying third grade girl, taking notice of how tall and skinny I was, christened me "Birdie". Thankfully, "Lawson" became my official nickname (once again, not terribly clever), with "Birdie" being reserved for use by a gaggle of girls who delighted in asking me if I was dating any of my coworkers on a daily basis.

They were kinder than the boys, though. They just lobbed basketballs at my head.

I am "The Lost One" to my dad's "Leader One".

I am occasionally "Bootyhead" to my husband, as we often exchange that one. He has called me "Queen of the Bootyheads", but only because, I counter, I married their King.

I changed my name (MontiLee) a bunch of times - I was "Alex" in College, "Pepper" (After the ditzy chick in "The Bloodhound Gang") in the 8th grage, but no cool handles. I had underestimated the uniqueness of my name, and now I love it.

Katey's nicknames:

Kateesh (kuh-teesh)
Toot
Nicosh (My last name is pronounced Nick-osh-uh, accent on the O)

I have boring nicknames!!

Uh...do we want to know the reasoning behind "Toot," Katey...? :-)

My nickname is Easycure - but that's only because I bestowed that upon myself. Nobody ever calls me that.

My only nickname ever was Frito from 1st to 4th grade. I liked the nickname....and if I remember it correctly, it started because it is a "mispronunciation" of my last name.

I was T-Bone throughout college, although we all modified our given nicknames slightly to make ourselves sound like Hip Hop DJs--the height of hilarity for rural, white Montana boys in the late 80s. So, I became "MC T-Bone Slice."

My family started calling me Jen when I was a kid - shortened from Jennifer, of course. What's ironic is that now my family mostly calls me by my full name.

In the 7th grade my best friend's dad called me Winifred or Guinivere.

After college some friends called me JR. One came up with Freakin' Jen (my domain name now).
