April 30, 2004Dateline: "Nightline"I never watch "Nightline." With the abundance of cable-news channels, there really is no need to watch it. Twenty years ago, perhaps, but certainly not now. I don't find Ted Koppel to be any more (or less) engaging or insightful than a whole host of other news programs hosts/anchors. But I admit to being skeptical of his reasons for tonight's episode of "Nightline." In fact, based on what I've read and already know about Koppel, ABC, and the media business in general, I think that Michele has pretty much nailed this.BUT. Whether or not any given affiliate wants to broadcast the program or not should be the sole decision of the station owner (or owners). If Sinclair doesn't want to run the show, fine. But I do NOT want to see a United States Senator trying to bully the station into running the show. It is NOT the "responsibility" of Senator McCain to decide what programming should or should not air on TV. Agree or disagree with Koppel - fine. But let the station OWNERS decide what they choose to air. Posted at April 30, 2004 06:48 PM | TrackBackCOMMENTS!
So anyways, while you were over here being whimsical, I was having a birthday. In fact, I still am. Redeem yourself immediately! Posted by: Burnt Fuse at April 30, 2004 08:22 PMPost a comment
