True Grit

Thanks to a hungry cat, I was up at 4:30 am yesterday morning, clicking through the cable channels, and chanced upon "True Grit." Now, until about seven (or so) months ago, I would have just kept right on clicking, but since my "conversion" to being able to appreciate Western-themed media, I watched it (well, most of it -- I missed about 30 minutes in the middle). And am I glad that I watched it! Until this, I only knew Kim Darby from her portrayal of Miri in a Star Trek episode - and as Lane's mother in "Better Off Dead." Her performance here was remarkable, and her contrast & relationship with Cogburn was simply amazing. And would you believe that I'd never even seen a John Wayne movie -- I only knew his reputation. And I was quite surprised to see a young Glenn Campbell - I had no idea that he had ever appeared in a motion picture.

I enjoyed the movie very much. Crusty, humorous, stunning scenery & locations, and worthy of at least 3 stars...maybe a bit more.

John Wayne and Ronald Reagen. Two of the Original Chickenhawks from WWII!

Joe,

It's spelled REAGAN. And Reagan served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Bad eyesight kept him from active duty, however. I guess anyone who failed to serve on the frontline, including those medically unable to do so, are "chickenhawks" in your estimation. You must be posting here from Falluja, right?

Gosh LJR, sorry about the typo. From your post I guess they hadn't invented eyeglasses in WWII.It's just hard for me to have any respect for those 2 ass clowns, when my Grandpa was in a POW camp in France during WWII! Since the web address is quite long for the Chickenhawk web site. You can link to it by going to www.vaiw.org ,just scroll down untill you see the chickenhawk on the left. ;-)

"From your post I guess they hadn't invented eyeglasses in WWII"

Your feeble attempt at sarcasm isn't helping your case. The military made its medical determination about Reagan, he didn't make it about himself. Your attempts to paint Reagan as a "chickenhawk" only demonstrate that you are either ignorant of what the term actually means, too mendacious to care about the actual definition, or both.
