Her name is Babs, and she was my best friend during my senior year of high school...one of only a handful of people who were able to tolerate an earring-wearing, semi-punk, New Wave-loving David (me, in other words). Trust me - in Choctaw, Oklahoma in 1983, that was beyond a mere "fashion" statement or expression of musical preferences. It was practically a death wish.
