You should have stayed at the War Bonnet Inn on Belknap. It's one of those ultra-kitschy places that James Lileks would love to write about. There's a giant Indian head wearing a war bonnet as part of the sign. No water slides, and the rooms are small. But there's a bunch of fake palins Indian stuff behind glass in the lobby. Yuo can tell that it's fake (even though the staff swears that it's real) because the buckskin clothes were sewed together on a sewing machine.

James: You're right--in fact, Lilek's gallery of retro-cool hotels came to mind when we checked in to the hotel. Very, very cool. I actually had thoughts of owning/operating a motel like that when I retire from the Air Force!
