Why I Love Old Navy

by @ 5:16 am. Category:Random

We often watch “What Not To Wear” on TLC — the Better Living Wife just loves fashion TV, and WNTW is probably her favorite. Me, I’m pretty much just there to mock and drop my jaw at some of the prices. $300 for a shirt? $250 for a pair of pants? HAH! Nope - I’m a very simple dresser, and in fact it’s only become clear during the last two years. You see, it was about two years ago that I discovered the wonder of Old Navy. I’d been into one or two stores before that, but always as a parent with a child or two in tow (”two in tow!” - heh). And I had always loved the wonderful, cheery commercials — with the big-glasses lady (Carrie Donovan, RIP), and Magic the Dog, and the occasional celebrity that I couldn’t name, but who I appreciated for participating in the whimsical commercials. The funky music, the cheery colors, the upbeat attitudes (denim molecules!) — all of these things made me happy. And inside the store it’s just like in the commercials! And marketing aside, the clothes are wonderfully simple. Nothing highfalutin’ about the shirts, nothing too trendy about the pants. Just basic clothing at good prices, sold in a happy, colorful way. What’s not to love?!

I had a real bitch for a boss, but I *tried* to be nice to her by making conversation throughout the day — hell, if I didn’t say anything in our two-person office, there would be complete silence for 8 hours — anyway, one day I was chit-chatting about harmless stuff and I told her I was going shopping that night for new clothes and that I was excited — she asked where I was going and I told her “Old Navy.” She said, ‘Oh, that store is so cheap.” What a b*tch!!! I enjoyed my shopping spree anyway!

It’s Old Navy ads that have made me a metrosexual. Damn them…
At least I look good for the ladies.

I think Old Navy is great! You can get some good (not expensive) clothes for dirt-cheap. Even if I had money to burn I wouldn’t buy a $300 shirt. Anyway, the same “slave labor” in Thailand made both the shirts, the only difference is the brand name sewn on.

Someone told me that Old Navy is part of the “Gap” family. I don’t know if that is true but I prefer Old Navy anyways.

Old Navy is my favorite place ever! Yes, it is part of the gap, and Banana Republic, but it is so affordable! :) Plus, who can beat a place with a cute mascot??
