Blogs != Credible

You know that blogs have reached the mainstream when they are mentioned in the San Antonio newspaper; this town is so stuck in the past and behind the times that it will never rise to its desired "world-class city" status. Remember, this is the city that proudly proclaims itself it to be one of the "Ten Largest Cities In America!", when in fact the metro area known as "San Antonio" ranks way down at #28 or so. One of the local columnists, Lynell Burkett, has been "turned on" to the world of blogs, and after a quick persusal of kausfiles.com and a few other name-brand sites, disdainfully sniffs that they lack (a) independence, (b) credibility, and (c) a willingness to ask "tough questions." Ms Burkett goes on to imply that blogs can't be trusted because they present only one side of any given story. That's wrong on two counts: first, many blogs that I read DO present different sides of an issue or story; second, these same blogs (denbeste.nu comes to mind, with his telling analysis of the Middle East situation) then accurately & swiftly dispatch the lies, distortions, and bias found in traditional news outlets.

I don't understand this person at all. Now given, there are people who don't know their arse from their mom's face, but having so many viewpoints and ideas only makes my mind grow, it doesn't fill me with mistrust and skepticism. Ten bucks says this Lynn's hairspray has been inhaled one too many times.
