Most people know at least some of the reasons that I don't care for San Antonio: the traffic (I-35, Loop 410, etc), the heat & humidity, the crowds, etc.
I lived there for 12 years between 1986 - 2002. I lived on the NE side, the North side, and the SE side, and was assigned to Brooks, Randolph, and Lackland Air Force Bases, as well as Ft Sam Houston. My wife and kids were all born & largely raised in San Antonio. My father & his wife and all of my in-laws live in San Antonio. I've been to the symphony, seen Spurs and Iguanas games, walked the Riverwalk, visited the zoo many times, won prizes from KZEP, eaten at Little Hipps, done the touristy and non-touristy things, etc. So I think that I'm somewhat qualified to have an opinion about the city. Well, Mando disagrees with me, although he does point out on his blog some of the reasons that San Antonio is one of the (if not THE) fattest cities in America. On another "places" note, via my buddy Tom today, go check out the name of this Oklahoma town.
Finally, here is what I look like when I don't shave for about four days...![]()
I'm waiting to see real growth there, David. That's nothing.
Posted by: Da Goddess on May 8, 2003 08:53 PMCheeky, aren't you, Joanie...?
Posted by: DavidMSC on May 8, 2003 09:01 PMAs a Texan, I've always had a fondness for San Antonio. I have much family in the area, and have been there a few times. If I were to pick a spot in Texas to live, San Antonio would be my first choice, Austin my second, maybe Dallas or somewhere on the coast third.
I've lived in Louisiana too--Shreveport, which is half-Texas anyway.
So I'm a bit surprised, but truth to tell, you've got a stronger background than I on the matter.
Posted by: Dean Esmay on May 9, 2003 09:03 PMNot cheeky, hon. Just....well....er....not too impressed. But, then again, I get babies who grow hair faster than that at the hospital.
:P
I'm such a brat tonight.
