Comments On: Grandstanding

I haven't heard of this guy yet Dave. However, the difference I see in your analogy is Gilmore paid the airlines a fee for a service, whereas you invited your friend over for dinner. If he passed through all the checkpoints the airlines make you go through nowadays, he should have been allowed to stay on the plane.

Was he a smart-ass for wearing the pin? Yeah, but being a smart-ass shouldn't be grounds for denying you a service that 1) you've already paid for and 2) you've met the security requirements for. Did the captain overreact in kicking him off? IMHO he did. Unless Mr Gilmore posed a real security threat to the captain, other passengers, or the plane itself he should have been allowed to stay on the plane.

Here's a link to a story in Gilmore's own words what happened, plus his reasoning behind it.

If I'd been on that flight and they announced that we had to go back to NYC because that assclown wouldn't take off his stupid button, I would have taken it off for him and re-positioned it up his ass.
