Sounds like the fan isn't the big problem now. Sounds like something got cooked. A fan shouldn't keep it from booting, should it?

Seriously, though, no one sells fans in Boston? Every single time I've had a computer part failure, (including motherboards), I was back up and running in a matter of hours, not days, and I live in the wilds of Montana, for pity's sake.
