If you’ve ever read any of Piers Anthony’s pun-prone books about the land of Xanth, then you know that Xanth is the world in which people have magic powers, fantastic creatures such as dragons and centaurs roam, shoes grow on trees, and there is general harmony and goodwill. The place that all Xanth residents DON’T want to visit (or be banished to) is Mundania — which is basically the world that we inhabit everyday. There is no magic, no sparkle, nothing special about Mundania - hence the name.

And so it came to be that I now think of Montana as Xanth - a land of magic.
