Can't find the time or money to travel to a CE seminar? Try some ACHE Self-Study courses. You can study & learn in your underwear!
If you haven't heard of the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE), take a few minutes to browse the website. It is an organization by & for black healthcare executives, with an interesting history.

Courtesy of the August edition of the AF/SG Newswire, here is the latest news on the refractive surgery centers being built/installed at Wright-Patterson AFB and the USAF Academy hospital. And as if reading one bio isn't enough (see below), here's another one...this time our former Surgeon General Murphy Chesney. What a guy - and his son, recently retired Colonel (Dr.) Murphy "Sandy" Chesney, is every bit as nice as his father, and one heck of a pediatrician. My youngest child is named after them, in fact. Great name - unique, wouldn't you agree?
Here's a nice brief bio on someone that I never met, but according to all sources she was & is one of those people who can truly light up a room when she enters: Brig Gen Carmelita Vigil-Schimmenti, USAF, NC (retired). And in medical readiness news, the Air Force Medical Service recently conducted a MedFlag in Mozabmique. Good on ya.

The Air Force Association published an article in April 2000 that details a rather frank discussion with Lt Gen Carlton on various aspects of the AF Medical Service; it touches on readiness, primary care & optimization, and the challenges of TRICARE and Medicare subvention.

Call me biased, but I just feel like reminding people about one of my favorite people: my former boss. I spoke with her briefly over the weekend - she is doing great. Loves retirement, and very much enjoys being a full-time grandma & part-time landscape engineer (fixing up her house). The Air Force developed, in the early-to-mid-90s, an effective suicide-prevention program, which is chronicled in this CDC web page. Kudos.
