Money Money Money (11:31 AM)

Found via Jen over at Para-Bellum, a cute "What Political Persuasion Are You?" quiz...no surprise on my result.

You Are a Capitalist Republican

Money makes your world go round - and it's no surprise that you always vote your wallet.

You're financially successful (or plan to be), and your agenda is low tax and pro business.

You don't get fired up about abortion... but mention capital gains tax, and you go crazy.

You want government to be as small as possible - and to stay out of the way of business.

Comments (if any):

Don't you care that our Capitalist earnings are dooming the world? Huh! Tell me that!! You spender you ... what about those poor starving children in Djibouti OR Uganda? You capitalist pig!

*giggles and winks*

Tables Turned (07:49 PM)

Let's say that you have a 16-year old daughter and that she comes home drunk and unruly, and you want to teach her a valuable lesson. So you call the police to come over and put a little scare into her. Uh...but you might want to clean up your own act before blowing the whistle on your child, lest you wind up in even bigger trouble than your daughter.

Comments (if any):

That's a big fat oops! I guess it's a good thing he did it though, sounds like he was not a great guy.

-Posted by Aimee Roo November 27, 2004 08:08 PM

Well ... *taps head* ... those are two smarties.

-Posted by Jen November 27, 2004 08:22 PM

I ain't gotta even look to see what kind of stupidity was displayed. 'Member what I do for a livin'? I hear these kind of stories all the time. I have been sayin' for a number of years that if absolute stupidity was a defense to criminal activity, I could get most of my clients off.

-Posted by Tig November 27, 2004 08:37 PM

um, oops. Guess I am glad my daughter is not drunk and unruly, and we don't have a place to hide icky stuff like weapons and drugs. Or something. :/

Site Changes (07:43 PM)

A few changes here at BLTB...the new "About" page is simply a regular MT entry page now, rather than an "index" page, and it contains links to the archives, too; same thing with my Montana page. They should both be easier to update now. And I loaded a new template over at the Big Sky Blog -- much easier to read.

Comments (if any):

Hey - are you going to adjust the "blockquote" width? On my screen (currently a 15" while I'm on vacation in Nashville) all of the sidebar stuff appears at the bottom of the screen.

Or is that the way it's supposed to be? I'm running IE6.

-Posted by November 27, 2004 09:09 PM

I noticed the comments on the BS Blog are reeeally small. It looks this way in Firefox and Internet Exploder so it's not a browser problem. At least I don't think so anyway...

The Joy of Snow (08:08 AM)

It just started snowing. I am officially happy. I hope it sticks around for a while...that would make me even happier -- I want it to look like this! UPDATE @ 8:21: Sigh...well, that didn't last long.

We got a beautiful snowfall the night before Thanksgiving. Snowman snow...it was stunning on the trees and the ground. I'd been commenting about the green grass up until this point, lol...

Hope all is well with you,

It's supposed to snow some here this weekend. Might stick, too..highs are only supposed to be in the mid 30's.

-Posted by Rita November 27, 2004 06:24 AM

Welllll...I understand your disappointment with the non-snow thing, David. My kids were out of school Wednesday and all over the TV and radio they were calling for SNOW SNOW and MORE SNOW. The kids barely slept Tuesday night because of the promises of snow. Wednesday morning we all checked the TWC when we woke up to no snow. It said it was right upon us, should be hitting soon...the kids were delirious. I'm not kidding about the delirious part either. By noon, more checking of the weather, stil no snow. By afternoon, still no snow. The delirious children were past cute now and bordering on psychotic and so was their mother. Needless to say we went to bed Wednesday night to green grass, trees full of leaves and animosity towards the dudes at TWC.

We Get Letters (09:59 PM)

Of course, there were a few items that were overlooked this week that we needed in order to make our feast complete...so I headed out this morning to Smith's to pick up some more Cream of Chicken soup, some "chicken stock" (which I'm still skeptical about), more Coffee-Mate, and some soft drinks. As I was perusing the beverage aisle, I wandered into the "energy drink" section and caught these two cans positioned just perfectly enough to catch my eye.

Giving Thanks (10:08 AM)

What am I thankful for? You know -- all the standard stuff: the wife, the kids, good health, freedom, fulfilling work, Montana, good friends & blog-buddies, media favorites, etc. But beyond that, I am particularly thankful for whimsical, laugh-out-loud stuff that can found all over the wonderful internets. To wit: The Top 10 My Little Ponies Of All Time! A sample, in regard to #7:

I loved Rosey Posey. She was a handy pony 'cause her head came off really easy and it made for a handy place to hide lip balm. Whenever my lips got chapped, I'd just snap off ol' Rosey's head and keep my lips fresh and clean (they'd often get chapped from licking lollipop too much). I once asked Rosey Posey to marry me, but she didn't answer. I took her silence as a "Yes", however, and we had a quiet ceremony in my room with the whole Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake village in attendance. I was certainly as surprised as anyone when Purple Pieman put on his priest garb and married us officially. I love you Rosey Posey!

Comments (if any):

Dude, you are so scaring me. That is something I would do, and we all know that is not a good thing.

-Posted by Velociman November 25, 2004 06:39 PM

Happy Thanksgiving, turkey! Oh, how come you didn't mention your sister and your dad (and your mom too) when you mentioned what you are thankful for? And, more importantly, how about George Steinbrenner, Seinfeld, the Phoenix Suns, Decker and Cow-Cat?????
Love and regards from Jen, Jon, Jacqui, yours truly and Tonya's crew and Nikki and Rachel too.
Dad

-Posted by November 25, 2004 07:40 PM

LOL! Happy Thanksgiving to you... and Rosey Posey if you happen to have a pony. ;) Is that why you picked that qoute? Did you secretly write it yourself??

Anyway, I hope that your Thanksgiving has been great, and that you will get the snow you love so much!

-Posted by Aimee Roo November 25, 2004 07:47 PM

OH GOOD HEAVENS that was disturbing! My oldest daughter came out here and was, unbeknownst to me, reading over my shoulder about #10 and when she said "a pony is the SON OF GOD????" I quickly closed the page and told her to go watch cartoons. I pushed her out of my office all the while she was saying "Yella? Mom, Yella? Who names a pony Yella? And WHO THINKS HE IS THE SON OF GOD???"

I see much therapy in the future for this child now

Oooh, Scary! (08:07 PM)

People who don't like President Bush have a new weapon in their arsenal. No, it's not sticks and stones -- no physical harm will come to the President. And it's not words -- after all, if the millions of words launched at the President and on behalf of John Kerry weren't enough to win the election, then words surely won't have too much of an effect at this point.

No, the ABB crowd has a frightening, powerful, and unstoppable new weapon at their disposal: they are actually going to TURN AROUND and SHOW THEIR BACK to the President!

*collective gasp of horror*

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try to stop laughing.

Comments (if any):

The Bushies weren't laughing when their fools were turning their back toward John Kerry at the American Legion national convention.
How is this any different?

-Posted by Randy November 24, 2004 10:33 PM

Get enough people to do it, and it could make for good television. That's all you need. And, in a Democratic stronghold like Washington D.C., it probably wouldn't be difficult to get enough people together to pull it off in style.

Laugh if you want, but when you have a President so heavily guarded from those who would question or criticize him, how does one protest? Would you rather they resort to violence? Would you rather they throw tomatoes?

Or are you just gloating?

No, not gloating, and of course I don't want the "protesters" to resort to violence or throwing tomatoes. It's just that this "back turning" is so absolutely inane and will accomplish precisely nothing. Oh, it's symbolic, you say? Great -- but it *still* won't accomplish anything. No one's mind is going to changed by this act. It just seems like a huge waste of time...and frankly, if I was one of those liberal ABB'ers, I'd rather do something CONSTRUCTIVE with my time -- fundraising for candidates, writing letters to the editor, refuting Republican talking points, etc. But just showing up at the inauguration and turning my back? Phft.

I don't think it's entirely pointless- at least not to those doing it. Granted, Bush is a lame duck who can't be reelected.

But he did not receive a mandate and there many out there who feel his leaderships is not worthy of being recognized. So I can see, to some degree, where they're coming from.

If it goes off the way it's being touted, it will look dramatic. And no matter what face the Prez and his closest advisors present, it WILL affect them viscerally on some level. Turning one's back is a deeply ingrained social insult.

Words of Wisdom (05:19 PM)

Courtesy of the 'Sphere's very own catblog-fueled Laurence comes this tidbit:

Chicken soup doesn't solve everything, but you can certainly drive people back by putting a few cans of it in a pillowcase and swinging it wildly.

Thanksgiving Eve (04:28 PM)

So - what's going on? Anyone have plans for the Thanksgiving holiday and/or weekend? Driving? Flying? Staying home? Relatives visiting? Eating turkey, or opting for ham, or are you just heating up some DiGiornio pizza? Talk to me.

That should have been "disgustingly" not "disgusting". Two very different meanings, there.

Preview is my friend, yes, indeedy..

Turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin or cherry pie, and other various and sundry goodies.

Then, it's football for the rest of the day, after my cooking chores are done.

Then, on Saturday, well, it's Griz Football.

I believe that a "w00t" is called for here.

Oh yeah, and if I get to feeling *really* good, I just might give PETA a jingle and let them know how good my turkey tasted.

There wasn't enough left of the Bobcat to do anything but throw to the dogs. :D

Let's see. Turkey, smashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (jellied & for real), turkey, stuffing, gravy, green beans, turkey, punkin' pie, ice cream, football, football, turkey sandwiches, minced meat pie, pecan pie.
Then to top it off a teeny tiny wafer mint.
