Let's say that you have a 16-year old daughter and that she comes home drunk and unruly, and you want to teach her a valuable lesson. Site Changes (07:43 PM)
A few changes here at BLTB...the new "About" page is simply a regular MT entry page now, rather than an "index" page, and it contains links to the archives, too; same thing with my Montana page. They should both be easier to update now. And I loaded a new template over at the Big Sky Blog -- much easier to read. Comments (if any): Hey - are you going to adjust the "blockquote" width? On my screen (currently a 15" while I'm on vacation in Nashville) all of the sidebar stuff appears at the bottom of the screen. Or is that the way it's supposed to be? I'm running IE6. I noticed the comments on the BS Blog are reeeally small. It looks this way in Firefox and Internet Exploder so it's not a browser problem. At least I don't think so anyway... It just started snowing. I am officially happy. I hope it sticks around for a while...that would make me even happier -- I want it to look like this! We got a beautiful snowfall the night before Thanksgiving. Snowman snow...it was stunning on the trees and the ground. I'd been commenting about the green grass up until this point, lol... Hope all is well with you, It's supposed to snow some here this weekend. Might stick, too..highs are only supposed to be in the mid 30's. I'm so jealous! It's snowed once since I've lived in Dallas.. I need to move. Ours didn't last long either. But there's another chance next Wednesday they say. Welllll...I understand your disappointment with the non-snow thing, David. My kids were out of school Wednesday and all over the TV and radio they were calling for SNOW SNOW and MORE SNOW. The kids barely slept Tuesday night because of the promises of snow. Wednesday morning we all checked the TWC when we woke up to no snow. It said it was right upon us, should be hitting soon...the kids were delirious. I'm not kidding about the delirious part either. By noon, more checking of the weather, stil no snow. By afternoon, still no snow. The delirious children were past cute now and bordering on psychotic and so was their mother. Needless to say we went to bed Wednesday night to green grass, trees full of leaves and animosity towards the dudes at TWC.

Of course, there were a few items that were overlooked this week that we needed in order to make our feast complete...so I headed out this morning to Smith's to pick up some more Cream of Chicken soup, some "chicken stock" (which I'm still skeptical about), more Coffee-Mate, and some soft drinks. What am I thankful for? You know -- all the standard stuff: the wife, the kids, good health, freedom, fulfilling work, Montana, good friends & blog-buddies, media favorites, etc. But beyond that, I am particularly thankful for whimsical, laugh-out-loud stuff that can found all over the wonderful internets. To wit: The Top 10 My Little Ponies Of All Time! A sample, in regard to #7: I loved Rosey Posey. She was a handy pony 'cause her head came off really easy and it made for a handy place to hide lip balm. People who don't like President Bush have a new weapon in their arsenal. No, it's not sticks and stones -- no physical harm will come to the President. And it's not words -- after all, if the millions of words launched at the President and on behalf of John Kerry weren't enough to win the election, then words surely won't have too much of an effect at this point. No, the ABB crowd has a frightening, powerful, and unstoppable new weapon at their disposal: they are actually going to TURN AROUND and SHOW THEIR BACK to the President! *collective gasp of horror* Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try to stop laughing. Comments (if any): The Bushies weren't laughing when their fools were turning their back toward John Kerry at the American Legion national convention. Get enough people to do it, and it could make for good television. That's all you need. And, in a Democratic stronghold like Washington D.C., it probably wouldn't be difficult to get enough people together to pull it off in style. Laugh if you want, but when you have a President so heavily guarded from those who would question or criticize him, how does one protest? Would you rather they resort to violence? Would you rather they throw tomatoes? Or are you just gloating? No, not gloating, and of course I don't want the "protesters" to resort to violence or throwing tomatoes. It's just that this "back turning" is so absolutely inane and will accomplish precisely nothing. Oh, it's symbolic, you say? Great -- but it *still* won't accomplish anything. No one's mind is going to changed by this act. It just seems like a huge waste of time...and frankly, if I was one of those liberal ABB'ers, I'd rather do something CONSTRUCTIVE with my time -- fundraising for candidates, writing letters to the editor, refuting Republican talking points, etc. But just showing up at the inauguration and turning my back? Phft. I don't think it's entirely pointless- at least not to those doing it. Granted, Bush is a lame duck who can't be reelected. But he did not receive a mandate and there many out there who feel his leaderships is not worthy of being recognized. So I can see, to some degree, where they're coming from. If it goes off the way it's being touted, it will look dramatic. And no matter what face the Prez and his closest advisors present, it WILL affect them viscerally on some level. Turning one's back is a deeply ingrained social insult.
